What is the difference between cleaning rugs and cleaning carpets?
A rug is a usually a carpet that is not mounted to the floor. Most people are referring to wall to wall installed carpet when they say carpet.
Most hand made rugs use wool or cotton while most carpet is made from synthetic materials.
Many hand made rugs will have intricate designs.
Many hand made rugs will not be color safe to use many of the cleaning chemicals that can be used on synthetic carpets.
The advantage to Wall to wall carpeting. Often rugs can bunch up in spots and they are much easier to trip over.
The advantage to rugs is you can cover up ugly spots in a wall to wall carpet with a rug.
If a rug gets damaged it can be replaced with out having to have someone install it.
Many houses are being built with a lot more tile and hardwood. Rugs on floors make most rooms much warmer and more comfortable.
